The Seventh
Cinearte Palace, Juiz de Fora, 2016
For some time now, it has become a habit to revisit films through the soundtrack. Reflecting on the subject, I realized that many of my cinematic memories are connected to the strength of this audiovisual relationship, especially some scenes closely linked to songs. The playlist below arose from the desire to remember and gather these memories.
Far from being just a background, songs are an integral part of the narrative itself when used well. Conscious choices, worthy of the deepest appreciation. Sometimes they strengthen my connection with the scenes, with the characters, and even with the film as a whole. The seventh art seems to have this anthropophagic ability to absorb its predecessors in its own way, creating unforgettable combinations.
I dedicate this playlist and list of films to Cinearte Palace, the last street cinema in Juiz de Fora that, tragically, ended its activities in 2017. A more than special place, of cultural and cinematographic resistance to the commercial doldrums, where I experienced many of the memories here shared.
